  Patriots Outdoor Recreational Therapy

is a Veteran inspired and operated organization dedicated to impacting the lives of Veterans who suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress through year-round outdoor therapeutic activities. These life-changing opportunities encourage participants to push physical boundaries, learn new skills, and achieve ind

  Patriots Outdoor Recreational Therapy

is a Veteran inspired and operated organization dedicated to impacting the lives of Veterans who suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress through year-round outdoor therapeutic activities. These life-changing opportunities encourage participants to push physical boundaries, learn new skills, and achieve individual and team objectives. 


Most importantly, we hope to provide an environment in which participants can find a sense of camaraderie together, contributing to a meaningful and rewarding experience Veterans can carry into their everyday lives.

The Mission

  Veterans with confirmed diagnosis of post-traumatic stress who have served in a branch of the United States armed forces during Operation enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn, Desert Storm, Desert Shield, and Vietnam. 


The Veteran must have an Honorable discharge. 


The Veteran understands that these activities are

  Veterans with confirmed diagnosis of post-traumatic stress who have served in a branch of the United States armed forces during Operation enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn, Desert Storm, Desert Shield, and Vietnam. 


The Veteran must have an Honorable discharge. 


The Veteran understands that these activities are not about a trophy animal but instead an opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy its therapeutic effects with other Veterans who also struggle with post-traumatic stress.

The Selection process

  • Self-Submission by the Veteran
  • Nomination by a fellow Veteran 
  • Nomination by former Unit/Command
  • Recommendation from a Veteran Service Organization 
  • Recommendation from a Veteran Administration Hospital 
  • Nomination from Spouse/Family/Friend 


All submissions, nominations and recommendations should be accompanied by a letter explaining why candidate would benefit from a P.O.R.T. program activity. 

WE ARE 100% VOLUNTEER BASED, OUR DIRECTORS AND STAFF DO NOT COLLECT ANY MONETARY COMPENSATION FOR THEIR TIME.
